It is Spiritual Intelligence
Although, I have taken a leaf out of some articles published in some journal and newspaper (I know copywriting is always tampered with in India), but there is some leakage from my thinking tank too.
Our lingua franca is taking numeric turns. It’s no more alphabetic now. Absurd proposition…!!? Numbers are transforming the thinking patterns. Next time when you see people conversing 537902….76490211!!!! Don’t get confused. It is a new lingo; Sudoku lingo. The Sudoku fever is engrossing India and bugged and obsessed everyone from a ten year old to a bed ridden man who would be grappling hard to get his copy of newspaper to start his day with Sudoku. (As the morning tea is passé now)!!!! It touches everyone’s life.
But is it just a craze which is no more than a game and an unusual time killing tool..????
Let us first see what it is exactly—
SU means ‘single’ and DOKU means ‘number’. It is a crossword puzzle using numbers instead of words.
Rules!!!!: Simple- It consists of (as we all are aware) a 9x9 grid divided into nine 3x3 boxes in which a few numbers called “given” — the number of givens varies between 17 and 30. Unlike our old traditional crossword puzzles, it rules out any dependency on language skills. And this is the factor, why it is popular among all sects of our country and as it reduces the disparity between various groups of our country. Even a high school pass rustic fellow can defeat an all time scholar and a genius.
But you would be thinking that how does it connects us with spirituality? How can we relate it with our lives and, to be more precise, to our souls?
Let me compare our life game with this game:
The most interesting and fascinating thing about Sudoku is that the arrangement of the numbers is symmetrical. So even if you rotate the game by 1800, the pattern of the squares and hence the technique remains the same. This is applicable in life too. If things turn turtle, try to maintain the balance with same zeal, equanimity and poise.
In Sudoku, the technique is: keep eliminating the numbers that doesn’t fit in a particular box or grid. In life too, keep eliminating your faults in order to succeed.
The game of life and game of Sudoku are best played only with calmness and focused approach.
Sudoku demands tandem while filling in the rows, columns, grids, etc. Life demands simultaneous accomplishment of your duties towards your parents, teachers, society, environment and the planet as a whole.
Sudoku represents various complexities in the form of diagonal Sudoku, odd and even Sudoku, extended and even an overlapping Sudoku. Life too is full of intricacies and complex situation in the form of loss, failure, illness, death, etc.
In Sudoku, we always need some starting point to go ahead (we can never start with completely empty rows and columns). In life too, there are certain spiritual pillars which forms the foundation of our life, such as discipline, simplicity, solitude, silence, patience, faith, continuous struggle, etc.
Sudoku is all about creative, pattern recognizing, insightful, rule making, transformative thinking. This is nothing but spiritual intelligence.
The only subtle difference between Sudoku and life is, if you make a mistake in Sudoku, you can erase it and start the game again. But life is a game played only once, though; you can always learn lessons from your past mistakes and avoid them in future.
